Explore a Dry Lead Mine in the Peak District followed by an Abseil off a Viaduct.
This is a perfect family activity, minimum age around 6/7 years old. (reasonable level of fitness). Under 18’s will need to be accompanied by a parent or legally appointed guardian and take part in the activities. This is a self drive adventure day so you will require your own vehicle for the whole day.
Meeting at Matlock Bath, get kitted up and a short walk to the Lead Mine.

You will be provided with a caving over suit, helmet, light.
Learn about the geology and mining techniques used by the miners since the the 1500’s. All done with just illumination from a candle. You will have modern PPE.
Stacks of ‘Deads’, Pick Axe Marks, Fire Setting, Thurls, Stemples, Calcite, Flowstone, Stalactites, Limestone, Bedding.
Then a drive over to Miller’s Dale Station car park for lunch then onto the Monsal Trail for the Bridge Abseil. Cafe and toilets at this location.
A 75 ft abseil over the River Wye with glorious views of the valley below.
Look at the Calthemites hanging below the arches of the bridge derived from concrete, lime, mortar or other calcareous material outside the cave environment.
